Overview

Tanja is an expert with twenty years of experience in environmental finance, with an in-depth familiarity in developing and supporting sustainability-focused investments for companies, NGOs and governments. Her primary areas of interest are sustainable land management (for food, fuel, fibre and ecosystem services) and emerging markets. She combined those professional passions by co-founding Clarmondial in 2010 to facilitate investments linked to improved natural resource use and sustainability. Her clients include global institutional investors, companies, government agencies of developed and emerging countries, family offices, entrepreneurs and leading not-for-profits agencies and development institutions seeking to mobilise investment in sustainable natural resource management.

Prior to that, Tanja worked at Climate Change Capital (UK), initially in the advisory team and subsequently as an investment associate. She has also carried out work for organisations including the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Indonesian Ministry responsible for planning, and the East African Community (EAC).

Tanja was born and grew up in Tanzania and Kenya, and is a Swiss and Danish national. She speaks English and Danish fluently, and limited German, Portuguese and Swahili. She holds an MSc in Applied Environmental Economics from Imperial College London, an LLM in Environmental Law and Policy from the University of Kent and a BSc (Hons) in Tropical Environmental Science from Aberdeen University.
